Home and

A little bit on the original Rociada in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico

Summer 2016 has been eventful and wonderful.

Our granddaughter Veronica came for a visit after school let out, in what is becoming a tradition. We are wondering if it might be possible for Noelle to join in, too; that would be perfect. Those two little girls are such joys.

The event of the summer, was, of course, Cyndi's wedding to Dwayne. There will be many, many pictures coming, including the show-stealing Cotton-eyed Joe, performed by the flower girls.

Julian and I were able to join some of the kids and all of the grandkids at Cooley Cottage for a few days of the annual beach vacation before heading off to Europe. I write this now from Austria, having been to Crete and Switzerland.

The world seems to us to be going somewhat madder than usual, and in the midst of worldwide threats of terrorism, the Syrian refugee crises, the insane U.S. political situation, and our worries for our European friends and relatives, we are more grateful than ever for the wonderful lives we lead.

Shauna is enjoying her promotion, and Evan will be starting his second year of college with a sports journalism major.

Jonathan is working on a Masters in Fine Art at Ohio State University.

Cyndi continues to enjoy her job and her home in El Paso. She and Dwayne are very happy together, and Noelle is also happy and doing well in El Paso.

Maria is job hunting, hoping to find a more congenial workplace. Veronica will be starting first grade this fall.

Kennon is now officially a doctoral candidate at The University of Florida. Iris is working on her masters at Florida State, and is engaged to Iris. They plan to marry next April.

Meghan has been working full-time as a pet groomer. She is moving away from Rock Hill, and considering teaching theatre.

And life is still good.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
